Middle East College (MEC) hosted 17 students from Hanyang University, South Korea as part of the MEC Winter School 2018 organized at MEC from January 14th to February 8th, 2018 as part of the international student exchange programme. The programme included many workshops and contact classes in Arabic, conversational English classes, Computer Programming, Entrepreneurship, Islamic & Omani Culture and traditional handicrafts. The South Korean students also visited various touristic and popular places in Oman like the museums, Nizwa fort, Al Hoota Caves, Virtual Reality, Innovation factory, Ecology and Planetarium and Grand Sultan Qaboos Mosque. In addition, the South Korean students conducted Korean Language classes and Korean Cultural Day at MEC.
Myeongbo Seo, one of the South Korean delegates, expressed her happiness in participating in MEC Winter School 2018. She said: “I really love Oman. It is a wonderful country and it was a great experience to visit MEC. I find the Omani people very welcoming and I felt the harmony here during my stay. It was a great educational experience, one which I enjoyed the most and for sure would like to return to this college one day!”
“There were various classes and different visits organised by the college during the whole programme which have added lots of value to us. I really enjoyed the Islamic culture classes as I was able to know and understand more about the Islam and Muslims. The MEC staff and students were so nice and helpful throughout our stay. In addition, MEC campus was fantastic with all the facilities, and we were able to find everything we needed and enjoyed our time there. I appreciate the love and kindness shown by the MEC members. I hope to visit Oman and MEC to re-live this experience again” said Jinyeong Gim, a student from Hanyang University.
It is worth mentioning that MEC organizes the Winter School programme annually for a month from January to February. In addition, the college has initiated strong links and relationships with educational institutions from all around the world as part of its international student exchange programme which aims to enhance students’ educational experience and develop their skills and abilities.
