MEC, as a responsible Higher Education Institution, believes in holistic development of its students, who in addition to having the required professional skills should also have necessary life skills so that they are effective contributors in the society. For this, the students need to be provided with a platform wherein they acquire new and showcase existing life skills.

This unit is one of the most important and central unit at the Middle East College since it is responsible for developing and strengthening life skills in students through extra-curricular activities which give students a platform to exhibit and showcase their skills and talents through events that are organized within or outside the college, both at the national and international level.

The Student Activities Unit (SAU) conducts activities through 18 students clubs, all announced at the beginning of the academic session in the form of an Activities Calendar. All the activities are aligned with the strategic guidelines of the college namely professional competence, cultural confidence, societal commitment and entrepreneurial skills. Students’ participation in these activities develop organizational, leadership and group working skills.

Some of the major activities which are organized by SAU on an annual basis are:

  • Orientation week
  • Dean’s day out
  • National day
  • Orphan’s day
  • Mother’s day, Teacher’s day and Women's day.
  • Open day
  • MEC’s got talent
  • MECORATOR
  • Photography Summit
  • Design exhibition
  • Blood Donation Camp
  • Achiever’s day

In addition, students participate in events and activities which are planned by various clubs of MEC as well as organizations locally, nationally and internationally.

From academic session 2013-14, the SAU has introduced the housing system also, wherein all students and staff of MEC are distributed into eight houses with the objective of involving them in competitive activities throughout the year and develop their life skills. This initiative also gives opportunities to students and staff to work together, have a strong bonding and develop healthy competitive and collaborative feeling.
