Qualification Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electronics and Telecommunication
Entry Requirements Candidates seeking direct admission to the programme mentioned should possess a General Education Diploma (Equivalent to 12 years of schooling or equivalent qualification) in the science stream, a minimum score of 65% in any two of the following modules/courses:
a) Pure Math
b) Physics
c) Chemistry
d) Biology
Further, candidates should pass the Placement Test conducted by MEC which includes English, Mathematics and Computing components. To be exempted from English Language in the Foundation Programme, candidates require a 5.5 score on IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or its equivalent and to be exempted from the Computing component of the GFP, they should have successfully completed the ICDL or IC3. In addition, candidates will have to pass the Math component of the college Placement Test.
Department Electronics & Communications Engineering

The programme equips you to apply scientific and engineering principles to the solution of practical problems and to design devices and systems to meet specific needs in industry dealing with VLSI, ASIC, Digital Signal Processing, Multimedia Communications as well as embedded systems.
Due to increased demand for electrical and electronic goods, including computers and communications equipment, electronics manufacturers have been investing heavily in production, research and development in order to increase the Omani electronics manufacturing base. This has caused a corresponding increase in demand for locally-trained professionals. As a graduate of this programme you will acquire the knowledge and skills required in careers at entry band and middle levels in organizations related to telecommunications including mobile communications, wireless networks and digital communications, information systems, electronic components and products.
