Entry Requirements

Students seeking admission to above this programmes should possess a General Education Certificate (Equivalent to 12 years of schooling) or equivalent qualification. Further, they need to have obtained a 5.5 score on IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or its equivalent and should have passed the ICDL Certificate to be exempted from the English language and Computing components of the Foundation Programme. Additionally students will have to pass the Math component of the college Placement Test. If a candidate does not possess the IELTS or the ICDL certificate, then he/she will have to attempt the college Placement Test.

Department Computing
The Business Information Technology programme places emphasis the analysis of business processes, the development and selection of appropriate computing solutions, project management and human aspects of information systems development. The subject areas included in the curriculum will equip the students with an in-depth knowledge of the use of information systems and analytical methods to support the analysis and design of policy and practice in business. It will also provide the opportunity for students to develop skills in systems analysis and design, the development and management of database systems, and the use of programming languages. It is recognised that in today’s field of business information technology, skills are transitory.  Hence, the programme seeks to ensure that a balance is struck between learning current techniques and emphasising the underlying fundamentals and theories which will provide a sound basis for understanding and evaluating new approaches, techniques and technologies.
The combination of business and technology studies will equip students for a variety of roles within the business and commercial sectors.  Graduates from this programme are likely to find opportunities for work as IT advisers, system specialists, data analysts and the like.
