Entry Requirements Students seeking admission to any of the Bachelors or Diploma programmes mentioned below should possess a General Education Diploma from Sultanate of Oman or its equivalent qualification approved By Ministry of Education, the Sultanate Of Oman and a General Foundation Programme completion certificate.
Students who do not have GFP Certificate will have to take MEC Placement Tests to determine their proficiency levels in English, Math and Computing. Depending on their proficiency levels reflected in the Placement Tests, students will be placed in appropriate levels of MEC Foundation Programme. The Math and Computing components are tested in Arabic.
a)    Students who do not possess a GFP certificate or an equivalent certificate may take MEC placement test. The placement test determines proficiency levels in English, Applied Math and Computing component.
b)    English Language in the GFP can be exempted on producing IELTS (International English Language Testing System) certificate with a score of  4 and above, a TOEFL equivalent or an equivalent international certification
c)    Computing component of the GFP can be exempted if the candidate has successfully completed the ICDL or IC3 or any equivalent international diploma in IT skills.
d)    A score of 45% in English component and 60% in Math and Computing component in the MEC placement test would enable the student for exemption from General Foundation programme.

B.Sc in Archives and Records Management is a contemporary “Archives Science” which is an integrated field that combines the requirements of records management and the classical archives methods. Teaching and research in this programme deals with traditional archival methods along with online access, digital preservation, and electronic records management.  This qualification is required for candidates who wish to pursue a career Archivist (digital and manual), digital asset manager, database librarian, electronic records manager, metadata specialist. In university/college or public libraries, cultural institutions, government agencies, publication houses, health, service and other consumer utility organisations. Middle East College, in collaboration with the National Records and Archives Authority of Oman, is the first higher educational institution among the Gulf countries to offer this programme.
Growing local and regional requirements coupled with the country’s plan for setting up effective Archival Laws and Records Management systems in place has necessitated demand for professionals in this area. Considering the requirement in the country and the region, a programme of this nature will be valuable to you. It will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute professionally to the industry and help you meet the challenges of daily life.
