Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is one of the fundamental components of the governance system of Middle East College. The Board being a representative body of the stakeholders, ensures that the interests of the institution, the student community, and the society at large is protected. To ensure greater transparency and to take forward the aspirations of the institution, the Board comprises representatives of the Board of Directors, experts from industry, nominees from the Ministry of Higher Education, Sultanate of Oman and other policy makers and the Dean of the College.

Chairperson, Board of Trustees

Dr. Glenn Christo Kharkongor, Pro Chancellor of the Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, India. Dr Christo is an alumnus of Loma Linda University, California, USA, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds a Diplomate from the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr Christo has over 28 years of experience in academia, academic administration, management consultancy, and research. His research interests generated many publications in national and international journals.


Dr Abdullah Al-Sabahy, Co-founder and Chairperson of Middle East College. Dr. Abdullah holds a PhD and Honorary Fellowship from Wolverhampton University, UK and has over twenty-two years of experience in Government, oil and gas, and higher Education. In Addition to Middle East College, he Co-founded two education institutions in India; the Asian Institute of Gaming and Animation, Bangalore, and Institute of Leadership and Management, Kerala. Dr Abdullah Serves as the Chairman of the Human Resource Development Committee in the Oman Research Council

Mr. Ali Rashid Said Al Balushi, Director General for Administration and Finance, Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development, Oman. Mr. Ali holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Bournemouth University, UK and has twenty years of experience in Administration, Human Resources and Finance in the Government sector.
Mr. Khalid Al Siyabi, Director General of e-services, Information Technology Authority, Oman, and Vice-Chairperson, Board of Trustees. Mr. Khalid holds a Postgraduate Degree from the University of Physical Education, Hungary and has 14 years’ experience in Information Technology Management in various Government Organizations. Mr. Al Siyabi is a professional mountaineer and holds the honor of being the first Omani to reach the summit of Mount Everest among many other mountains.

Mr. Lefeer Muhamed, Co-founder and Managing Director, Middle East College. Mr. Lefeer holds a Master of Business Administration in International Business and Honorary Fellowship from Wolverhampton University and has over 15 years’ experience in International Business and Higher Education. In Addition to Middle East College, Mr. Lefeer Co-founded two education institutions in India; the Asian Institute of Gaming and Animation, Bangalore, and Institute of Leadership and Management, Kerala.

Mr. Ali Al Uraimi, Deputy Managing Director, Middle East College and Convener of Board of Trustees. Mr. Ali holds a Postgraduate degree from University of Lancaster, UK and has more than 11 years’ experience in finance and Higher Education sectors.
Dr. Kiran G.R., Acting Dean, Middle East College. Dr. Kiran holds a PhD in Information Systems from London School of Economics and Political Science, UK and has over 17 years of experience in Government and Higher Education sectors. Dr. Kiran has headed projects like Akshaya, in the state of Kerela, India which is one of the largest ICT for development projects in the world.
Mr. Sunder George, Chief Advisor, Bank Muscat, Oman. Mr. George holds a Master of Business Administration from International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland, and is a senior banker with an extensive banking and international financial experience for over 40 years. Mr. George is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, Uk and an Associate member of the Indian Institute of Bankers, India.
Mr. Yahya Salam Al Mandhari, Director General for the Higher Education Admission Centre. Mr. Al Mandhari holds a Master’s Degree from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, and has eleven years’ experience in Government and Higher Education. Mr. Al Mandhari is an acclaimed writer and serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the Omani Authors Association. Mr. Yahya is the Ministry of Higher Education nominee to Middle East College Board of Trustees.
The College Board is vested with the responsibility of developing, overseeing, reviewing and implementing the academic policies and practices of the Institution. The Board is also responsible for promoting, maintaining and monitoring the academic standards within the Institution according to the Vision and Mission of the Institution.
