There is rapid industrial development in Oman and computer wireless network solutions are becoming a necessity because of their features of portability, cost effectiveness and versatility. This programme prepares you to address the requirements of the present technology viz. wireless technology. It aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills for a thorough understanding of network technology and administration with a focus on the real-time wireless environment.
Candidates seeking direct admission to the programme mentioned should possess a General Education Diploma (Equivalent to 12 years of schooling or equivalent qualification) in the science stream.
A minimum score of 65% in any two of the following modules/courses:
a) Pure Math
Students who do not possess a GFP certificate or an equivalent certificate may take MEC placement test. The placement test determines proficiency levels in English, Pure Math and Computing component.
English Language in the GFP can be exempted on producing IELTS (International English Language Testing System) certificate with a score of 5.5 and above, a TOEFL equivalent or an equivalent international certification
Computing component of the GFP can be exempted if the candidate has successfully completed the ICDL or IC3 or any equivalent international diploma in IT skills.
A score of 60% and above in MEC placement test in each of the component would enable the student for exemption from General Foundation programme.
After completing the programme, you will find careers in installation, operations and maintenance wireless networks and services to address the specific needs of the world-wide communications industry. Further, the technical skills and in-depth knowledge that you acquire will help you find suitable entry-level positions in the wireless technology environment, in both government and private organisations that require networking professionals to install, operate and maintain their wireless networks.
