This programme aims to develop you as a competent professional of Logistics and Supply Chain Management practices for the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC region. Each module has been carefully designed to give you the necessary skills to analyse, design and manage solutions for innovative and complex logistics and supply chain problems, as a basis for future leadership role in the profession.
The field of Logistics is one of the top contributors to a country’s economy. For the purpose of economic diversification and country’s sustainable growth, strategies have been chalked out in Oman also to make Logistics as one of the national priorities of Vision 2040. The programme thus aim at developing ability to apply management skills in the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. It prepares the students to identify, analyze, and solve practical problems, by applying knowledge of business, transportation, finance, and trade etc.
Students seeking direct admission to the programme should possess the following minimum entry requirements:
a. General Education Diploma (Equivalent to 12 years of schooling) or equivalent qualification approved By Ministry Of Education, the Sultanate Of Oman
b. General Foundation Programme completion certificate;
c. Students who do not have GFP Certificate will have to take MEC Placement Tests to determine their proficiency levels in English, Math and Computing. Depending on their proficiency levels reflected in the Placement Tests, students will be placed in appropriate levels of MEC Foundation Programme.
● English Language in the GFP can be exempted on producing IELTS (International English Language Testing System) certificate with a score of 5.5 and above, a TOEFL equivalent or an equivalent international certification
● Computing component of the GFP can be exempted if the candidate has successfully completed the ICDL or IC3 or any equivalent international diploma in IT skills.
A score of 60% and above in MEC placement test in each of the component would enable the student for exemption from General Foundation programme.
You will be able to pursue careers in all areas of logistics, transportation and supply chain management. You can get jobs in private as well as government sectors in the following roles:- Logistics Officer, Supply Chain Manager, Procurement Officer/Manager, Buyer, Purchasing Officer, Warehouse Officer/Manager, Stock Controller, Customs Officer, Shipping Manager, Exports and Distribution Manager. In addition to this, you can also start your own business as a Clearing and Forwarding Agent, Customs House Agent and related fields and can even go for further studies.
