The department was introduced more than 10 years ago to manage and offer the Archives and Records Management (ARM) programme in coordination with the National Records and Archives Authority (NRAA), Oman and under the supervision of Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Oman. The department has well-skilled and professional members to provide the best delivery of the programme and provide the students to become nation’s builders and help to archive and recording the country’s history.

The department is well established with sufficient facilities to enable effective teaching and learning. It also has access to modern classrooms for delivering lectures; a well-stocked library with adequate print, online and audiovisual learning materials and a number of computers and design labs for practical work, online learning, and hands-on experience.
The MEC’s Records Management System which is the first system to be approved by NRAA for a private educational institution in the Sultanate.
The databases provided by the library allow students to access reputed journals from within as well as outside the campus.
Access to Learning Management system such as Moodle enables students to have module related information available 24/7.

Innovative Teaching & Learning
The teaching and learning at MEC is an active process which occurs contextually. The learning activities are derived mainly from socio-cultural and cognitivist perspectives on teaching and learning. To support deep learning and active student engagement blended teaching and learning methodology is adopted with an emphasis on flipped learning.
